INSTINCT
I always believed in instinct over intellect. The instinct is what you always knew; intellect is what you figure out. 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
I believe instinctively that if we follow logic all the way to the smallest point we will find God. 1996 ー U2 At The End Of The World ー Bill Flanagan
The religious instinct is everywhere. 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
I hear it in some sort of instinctive way, I feel a response to a prayer, or I feel led in a direction. Or if I’m studying the Scriptures, they become alive in an odd way, and they make sense to the moment I’m in, they’re no longer a historical document. 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
Belief and confusion are not mutually exclusive; I believe that belief gives you a direction in the confusion. But you don't see the full picture. That’s the point. That’s what faith is. You can’t see it. It comes back to instinct. Faith is just up the street. Faith and instinct, you can’t just rely on them. You have to beat them up. You have to pummel them to make sure they can withstand it, to make sure they can be trusted. March 1, 1997 ー “Growing Up With U2” by Neil McCormick (The Daily Telegraph)
