HEAVEN
I close my eyes and I try to imagine Heaven. But I think, rather like Hell, Heaven is on Earth. That’s my prayer. It was Christ’s prayer, which was: “Thy Kingdom come / Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.” I mean, that’s where Heaven for me is, and we’ve got to start bringing Heaven down to Earth now. So what I imagine Heaven looks like is this present life without this present evil... 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
But I don’t know. I can’t imagine [heaven]… My brain is kind of too small for these kinds of glimpses. 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
I look forward to meeting [my mother] again. June 25, 2013 – Interview with Jim Daly (Focus on the Family)
[Life is] just a moment. That’s a thing. It’s a blink of an eye, isn’t it? What’s the difference? Twenty, forty, sixty, eighty, a hundred? In comparison to eternity, it’s only a split second. We live in a world that’s obsessed about our temporal selves. We focus too much on that, and it makes us very unhappy, because the body is getting weaker, and it’s difficult. But actually, the journey of the spirit is very important. We should think a little bit more about that. 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
[Christ’s death] should keep us humbled… It’s not our own good works that get us through the gates of heaven. 2005 ー Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas
I don't expect this pie in the sky when you die stuff. My favorite line in the Lord's Prayer is, 'Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven' (Matt 6:10). I want it all, and I want it now. Heaven on earth - now - let's have a bit of that. December 1, 1988 ー "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" by Liam Mackey (Hot Press)
I went finally to Jerusalem on a family pilgrimage. And I went to Golgatha. And I went to the site where… death died. And I was like… wow, there it is, that’s where death died. And so, I don’t really believe in it anymore… it has no power over me as it had when I was 14 years old. And it’s unpleasant for the people we leave behind, or if we’re left behind, but it isn’t unpleasant for the soul to now find its true meaning. You know, we look through the glass darkly, but then we shall see face to face… A large part of our psychology is fear of death. So if you have that dealt with I think you can get on with life a bit easier. April 26, 2017 – Interview with W. David O. Taylor (Fuller Studio)
